DISCIPLINES

The following are only introductions for each discipline.
Please download the full discipline details from our Downloads page.

  • BANDS

The conductor or delegated member of the teaching staff must be directly responsible for the students in his/her band from the time the group arrives at the venue until it leaves.  A waiting room will be assigned to each band where students will get their instruments ready, leave their baggage, instrument cases, outdoor clothing, etc.  After the warm-up session, bands will proceed to the hall where the members will sit as a group in an assigned area.  The students will stay in the hall with their group until their class has been adjudicated and dismissed.  The students may not travel back and forth between practice rooms and the concert hall.  Bands may arrive 30 minutes prior to performance time.

  • CHORAL

All choirs must memorize their selected pieces.  Classes exempt from this rule are specified below.

In all choral classes transpositions will be allowed one tone or semitone up or down.  Choral selections must be limited to any 3 verses.  Select the verses in the best interest of keeping the story line intact.  If accompaniment is used, it must be piano or acoustic guitar accompaniment only.

Competitors in choral societies, choirs or bands must be bona-fide members of the respective organizations.

A "Classroom Choir" must be comprised of all of the regular students in one classroom only.  Teachers cannot participate in classroom choirs; however, teachers are allowed to enter the community choirs section if they choose.  A classroom comprised of more than 1 grade must enter the class indicating the higher grade.  An alternative would be to enter each grade within the classroom, at its own appropriate class level.  School CHOIRS are limited to 65 members.  Secondary School ENSEMBLE must limit its size to a maximum of 30.  Elementary School ENSEMBLE must limit its size to a maximum of 20.  The conductor or delegated member of the teaching staff must be directly responsible for students in his/her choir from the time the group arrives at the venue until it leaves.  May we also suggest that School Choirs be accompanied by an adequate number of  staff members or volunteers in order to ensure proper discipline.
